Earth & Ember Yoga brings together kindred spirits. Lindsay Giadrosich, RYT 500, and Ashley McDuff Clarke, RYT 200, met at Red Mountain Park in the fall of 2017 at a Hiking and Yoga (HOGA) class led by Lindsay. The connection was immediate. In 2018, Lindsay and Ashley dreamed up the vision of E & E Yoga while sitting in the forest and butterflies were flitting about around them. In 2019, the two invited Laura Gadilhe Decastra to become the third member of the tribe. As our dreams and plans continue to manifest, so will our tribe.
Earth & Ember's mantra is to Walk Softly and Carry a Big Light. Our desire is to create opportunities for communities to discover the connections between the earth and the light within each of us. Explore with us through walking meditations, yoga practices, mindful outdoor experiences, and hiking, as we share information about the many benefits of spending time outside and why communing with nature is good for the mind, body and spirit. We invite you to join us for classes such HOGA at Red Mountain Park, Downward Dog on the Rocks at pop ups in natural areas and parks around the city, Yoga on the Bluff at Wild Roast Cafe in Bluff Park, and so much more.
Our mission is to give back to the parks and nonprofits who support education and mindful awareness of our natural resources and areas as much as possible. While not all of our offerings take place outside, our commitment to building community and awareness are always at the forefront of what we offer. Many of our weekly classes are held at Wild Roast Cafe in Bluff Park, so even if we are teaching inside, we pause to celebrate the sunset or the way the light dances through the window of our yoga room.

Lindsay Giadrosich, RYT 500
Lindsay enjoys empowering her students to find the light and courage from within themselves. She was introduced to yoga as a form of stretching and strength for running and triathlons. Lindsay recognized more than improved flexibility in her life. Yoga brought her a calmness and spiritual strength. With a desire to learn more, she completed her 200 hr. yoga instructor training with Sacred Glow Yoga in 2015 and her 500 RYT in 2018. Lindsay plans to add SUP Yoga certification in the spring of 2019.
As a Birmingham native, an Auburn University graduate, and Hoover resident, Lindsay works within the non-profit world. She enjoys doing just about anything outdoors. She advocates that yoga is for everyone and that it can meet you right where you are. One of her passions is sharing the benefits of yoga with others from beginners to advanced students.
Ashley McDuff Clarke, RYT 200, KMOG and GCDF
The mind, body, and spirit connection is Ashley’s main focus in both her personal practice and in the classes that she offers within the community. She finds joy in encouraging and inspiring others both on and off the mat.
A Birmingham native, Ashley completed her yoga teacher training through Sacred Glow Yoga in 2017. She is also a Certified Level 1 Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide and offers classes, retreats and workshops to invite others to commune and connect with our natural environment. Ashley has also studied multiple programs at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, MA and Transformational Healing Arts in Madison, CT.
Ashley works as a Global Career Development Facilitator in private practice and a yoga instructor at Villager Yoga, The Levite Jewish Community Center, the UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center, as well as for private businesses and corporations. If she isn’t coaching, practicing yoga, or offering mindful outdoor experiences, you’ll most likely find her backpacking, flat water kayaking, or traveling across the country on another grand adventure. When she is sitting still, she most likely has a really good book in her hands.

Laura Gadihle DeCastra, RYT 200
Kids Yoga Certification, YogaEd
Laura is a natural born teacher from Birmingham, AL. She was bullied most of her life and it led her to believe she didn’t have a voice. She had always gotten the feeling of what yoga could bring, but she truly noticed her voice awakening during yoga teacher training at Villager Yoga. During her training she witnessed it happening for others as well. In November 2018, Laura completed her RYT 200 Hour Yoga Certification through Sacred Glow Yoga in Birmingham, AL along with a Kids Yoga Certification through YogaEd.
She began teaching a kid’s yoga class in August 2018 at Villager Yoga Studio focusing on social and emotional management. She has been a presenter at Teach Your Heart Out Conference, and in July 2019 she presented at the National SDE Conference in Las Vegas. She believes that kids are more in tune with their intuition, making it easier for them to grasp and use yoga to create relaxation.
Laura strongly believes that the earlier we learn these yoga tools, the more likely we will carry them into adulthood. She wants to share this knowledge not only with children, but also with adults, teens, and schools all over the world so that we can grow each day knowing how to handle our emotions, speaking our voice in a confident manner, and knowing exactly who we want to be.
No matter what style of yoga Laura is teaching, she will create a safe place for you to be you. We are all on this journey of life together. Together we can share and listen to each other and allow space for all to shine.

Kristin Rand, RYT 200 and
Prenatal Yoga Certification
Kristin Rand believes magic is real, and she fuses this sentiment into all of her work. She believes it is our deepest calling to wake up to our own unique light and come home to ourselves and that this access should not be limited. All people, all abilities, all bodies have a birthright to heal and reconnect with themselves through yoga.
Kristin’s classes are joyful and soul-centered. Expect to really connect with your inner guidance as you build some heat. Her teaching style is genuine and accepting, using elements of meditation, asana, and self reflection in each class.
A graduate from a 200hr RYS with additional certification in prenatal yoga and accessible yoga certification through Yoga for All. She has practiced yoga in a bigger body for more than 15 years and wants nothing more than to guide students to know their own magic.
Her passion is in working with anyone who might not feel ‘ready’ or “enough’ to practice yoga: primarily queer, bigger, and pregnant/post partum bodies. She wishes for all folks to reclaim their relationship with their body and relationship to peace.
